Sometimes we get into a rut. We go through each day doing the same things, having the same thoughts, and having the exact expectations of what can happen to us. Today’s letter is about fixing our mindset to be a winner.
“It is our attitude toward life which will determine life’s attitude toward us” - Earl Nightingale
The only thing constant in life is change. Things happen to us all the time. You will see many ups and downs. Sometimes you will be the hero in the story, and sometimes you will be the victim. The only variable you can control in life is your attitude. You can make plans for almost every scenario you can think of, but life will eventually throw you on your butt. Your attitude will determine where you go from your setback. Growing up one of my neighbors was doing well in life. This is all relative, but he was the only person I knew who took vacations and had more than one car. I remember he was fired from his job, and he never recovered. He went from living a life of luxury to getting evicted, selling off his cars, and living out of his car for the past 15 years. The only thing that changed about him was his attitude. He blamed everyone else for his problems, and he still does to this day. If he ever changed his mindset and attitude, I am optimistic he would recover almost immediately.
“Before a person can achieve the life he wants, he must become that kind of individual” - Earl Nightingale
It doesn’t matter what you want in life, someone has achieved it in some form. If you want to be successful, you must emulate it somehow. If you want to become a YouTuber, go copy a successful person’s formula. You see many comedians follow this strategy. When many comedians are starting, their jokes, cadences, and mannerisms are all similar to the comedians they admire. The point is that if you want to achieve certain things in life, you have to become the type of person in life that can do it. That means working late, paying attention to small details, and being more efficient with your time.
Sincerely,
Daithi D.
